TIKI Team Rider Profile

Here's a recent review that TIKI recently put together, shot by Zac Gibson.

SPOTLIGHT ON Tiki team rider, Greg Norman, revels in riding all kinds of boards from fishes to eggs, to mals. But what he is best known for is his progressive longboard style. Greg is part of a dynamic young crew of Saunton based longboarders and, as a top ten finisher on the British Longboard Tour, he has many credits to his name.

As well as winning numerous local comps, he has finished in the finals of the Jesus Surf Classic, surfed for Devon in the Atlantic Games and has repeatedly been a part of the wining British Longboard Champions Team. He has had extensive coverage in Corduroy Lines and Wavelength magazine as well as appearing in the DVD 'Devon Lanes and Longboards'.

Greg has travelled and surfed all over the world, 2012 has most recently seen a boat trip to the Maldives and an exciting tour of Taiwan with Pacific Longboarder Magazine. Greg is a hardworking ambassador for Tiki and his other sponsors, a genuine all-round nice guy and Tiki are proud to have him flying the flag.

WAX

Sat at home watching pumping Pipe Masters is making me feel pretty bummed with the lack of waves I've surfed recently. Work and lack of daylight has meant it's been a poor month for me on the surf front, with only a few onshore mushburgers this weekend.

On the plus side Elusive have just launched a range of wax, so my boards will be freshly prepped with quality wax for hopefully a pumping Xmas break!

Also you can't beat a decent cuppa, cheers Elusive! 

Champions

So the surf may not have been epic and the water was a darn site colder that Taiwan, but it was still great to spend time with mates down the coast at the British Club Champs at Gwithian.  The Navy organised the event and showed great hospitality, running a fun event with a BBQ and music after.

It made the day even better to head home with Hotdoggers 'A' on the trophy.

Taiwan.....what a place!

After an awesome time out in Taiwan, I'm back home now, albeit slightly jet lagged. Before the trip began, I heard rumours of uncrowded line-ups and pumping surf. All I can say is..... the rumours were true.

I think I counted 5 other surfers in the water in my whole time in Taiwan, we scored heavy beachies, mellow points, barrels, noserides, such a wide variety of surf nearly every surf was in boardies with just us in the water. One thing is for certain, there are a lot more 7/11 shops than surfers!

The culture out there is so diverse with an abundance of crazy stuff around every corner. The food is off the scale, with the sushi is immense and now at the grand age of 26, I know how to use chop sticks!

The boys on the trip were top lads, Isaac Fields, Matt Mulder and my good friend from home Zak Lawton. The boys were killing while Moonwalker took shots, the trip is due to feature in the December issue of Pacific Longboarder Magazine, keep your eyes peeled for a video of the trip too.

DROOG79

In his own words, Droog79 is the alter-ego of a salty-faced, suburbia-fleeing, inky-fingered, board-propelled artist, illustrator, designer and lawn bowls aficionado.

He's also a nice bloke and a bloody good artist. I've admired his artwork for a few years now and heard recently about his newest venture of 'arting' up surf fins. Droog took a couple of my fins and turned the originally bland and boring hardwear into quality pieces of unique artwork. 

I'm stoked with the outcome, so why not check out some of his work (blog + facebook) and possibly get some art done for yourself. 

Wish my ankle would get better!!!

Last week the surf pumped and every man and his dog headed to Lynmouth. I thought my ankle was ready after a fun small session at Saunton last weekend.
But no......the ankle is still not back to normal, I found this out when I struggled to do anything up at Lyn. I've been doing all my exercises on it and wishing for it to get better, but I've now had to book in with the physio to try and hurry up the recovery in time for Taiwan.

Taiwan

Got some sick news recently...... an invite from "Moonwalker," to head out to the East Coast of Taiwan. The trip is with Pacific Longboard Magazine, for a photo shoot the mag and potentially other mags around the world.

I've looked into the area and the place fully pumps, so fingers crossed my ankle heals up quickly and next month I should be getting some of the sickest waves of my life.

Here's a little vid that "Moonie" has filmed from where I'm heading.

Also heard a mega typhoon hit a couple weeks ago bringing a 30ft swell. Better pack a few spare sets of under pants!
